From Tabletop to Mobile

Exploring Core PVP Gameplay with Paper Prototypes

Read the complete presentation ↗

How can we discover what is fun—and what is wrong—with a ruleset before committing to full development?

Following tabletop iterations, player testing and a mobile demo, this case study shows how core rules move from paper to screen.

Testing the Idea

Beginning with cards and a board, the process moves through several rounds of tabletop iteration and player testing before becoming a mobile demo.

Design Trade-offs

The case explores the balance between randomness and competitive play, addressing calculations, board-space rules and the effort required for players to understand them.

Evidence from Practice

Paper-prototype photographs, gameplay demonstrations and finished-game images show the evolution of the design alongside the final trailer.
